Conversation regarding photography

Bryan: I love Canon.
Rachel: Why didn't you tell me this earlier?
Bryan: Tell you when?
Rachel: Before we got married. This is a Nikon family.
long pause
Rachel: You're just saying that to rile me up. Its not funny, Bobo. You should take it back and apologize.
Bryan: Okay, I take it back and apologize. I was just trying to rile you up. Besides, I thought Canon was yogurt.

Motley cat

Since we got the new (to us) furniture the cats have chosen blue chairs.

This is Motley's chair.

New Arrangements

With Mimi selling her house we came into some furniture. The movers came on Friday and we've spent some time this weekend moving things around.

Never mind the dinning room. Its sort of our dumping ground right now.

There are more changes in the dining room, but I'm waiting until we finish at Mimi's house before I start getting things more settled in there.

Oh Love that will not let me go

I was going to post this yesterday. Its on of my favorite hymns and we sang it at our wedding four years ago from yesterday. But its fitting for today too...

Oh, love that will not let me go
I rest my weary soul in Thee
I give You back this life I owe
And in Your ocean depths, its flow
May richer, fuller be

Oh, light that follows all my way
I yield my flickering torch to Thee
And my heart restores its borrowed ray
And in Your sunshine's blaze, its day
May brighter, fairer be

Oh, joy that seeks me through the pain
I cannot close my heart to Thee
I chase the rainbow through the rain
And feel the promise is not vain
That mourn shall tearless be

Oh, cross that lifts and holds my head
I dare not ask to fly from thee
I lay in dust life's glory dead
And from the ground, their blossoms red
Life that shall endless be

Sears Crosstown

My mom and I have been members of AIA LuniTECTs since it started over a year ago. We've been treated to some amazing tours around Memphis. This past month we went on my second favorite of all time tours. Sears Crosstown.

This building underwent four additions.

This is the first part. It only took a few months to realize they needed more space.

A few of us went up to the 10th floor and the roof.

Best view of Memphis skyline in town.

Make Good Choices

Over the last few years it has been apparent that I am not the same size 2 I once was 8 years ago. Last week I made the mistake of looking at the scale at the doctor's office. Now that I am no longer ignorant, something has to happen.

I don't believe in diets, they never last. Let's face it, I'm not a runner. So instead of committing to a workout program I won't commit to and a diet that I have no hope of sticking to I've devised my own campaign to change my current status. Make good choices.

Today's good choices:
- not ordering guacamole and chips at Las Delicious with lunch
- not having a beer right when I got home from school
- Salty Dogs group run. Bryan and I walked/ran 2 miles which was a feat since we're both exhausted from our weekend in New Orleans
- we opted out of beer and pasta after the group run. Good choice for my waistline and wallet. BONUS! Extra point!
- Mediterranean Quinoa salad for dinner, small portion.

Not bad for my first day. I'm thinking about devising a point system. I love competing, especially with myself.

Monday quick post

We went to New Orleans this weekend. I normally schedule posts over the weekend, but since I was out of town, didn't have time this week. Instead I will leave you with this one picture I snapped yesterday morning in Jackson Square.

I'm sort of envious of this guy. He has nothing better to do than take a nap on a street bench. Not only that, but he's got his whole day lined out in front of him.

Wish I was feeling that relaxed today.

Forging on the River

The National Ornamental Metal Museum is located on the bluffs of the Mississippi River. It has some of the best views of the river on its beautiful grounds.

Last Saturday my parents invited us to go to an event called Forging on the River. It was part of a metal conference, but Saturday evening was open to members of the Museum. (Members get a good discount at the gift shop, which makes it TOTALLY worth it. Best gift shop ever.) Since there would be free food, we went.

It was a beautiful night and a great place to watch the sunset.

Family Photo

My grandmother has sold her house. Which means we've spent nearly every Saturday this year helping clean out the house.

She's always had one the most beautiful yards ever. We decided we needed to get a family photo made one last time with the azaleas as a backdrop.

Bosco on a Saturday Morning

Saturday, fresh off a week of tough decisions regarding my baby, I decided to photograph her doing a few things she loves. Being in the family room with us.

Motley hung around for a little bit too.

Life Recently

Bryan and I have had to make some grown up decisions lately. Life has not been easy these last few weeks. Its easy to focus on the negative and how rough things are sometimes, so today I want to take some time to focus on the positive and what we have to look forward to.

- Upcoming trip to New Orleans. We love love love New Orleans, but this trip will be one of our most interesting. Both sets of parents and my brother will be accompanying us. I'm excited about seeing my favorite city through their eyes this time. And showing off a few of our favorite places. And let's face it, drinking and eating myself silly.

- Spring plantings. I've planted a couple of new-to-me plants this spring. I'm excited to see what happens as they grow and hopefully enjoy some fresh veggies this summer. In addition, I won two hours of landscape design time. I met with the designer this week and should receive a professionally done plan just for me and my yard. I can't wait to see what she comes up with and see how we can improve our little yard.

- Bosco. Our toughest decision is in regards to her. I'm not ready to really talk about it much. But I want to enjoy each and every step, spring, nuzzle, cuddle, and kiss. She will always be my first baby and I want to remember and cherish every single moment I have with her.

- Mustaches! Bryan surprised me yesterday by shaving his beard into a mustache. Its a reminder to not take everything so serious. A little cheese is good for you.
