Shop Local

I came across this today in my readings.

(Sorry it is weird on here... I'm not competent at web-lingo)

This is something that I'm going to try do and would encourage anyone else to do as well. And I'm not saying this because my husband is employed by a local business. What would our community be like if everything was a big chain store? It makes me want to vomit.

Our Mess

Yesterday morning I was bragging to my mom at how good Bosco has been lately. She has been much better about the biting. Yes, she still bites, but she's much more receptive to pets and knows she's not supposed to bite. That's progress, my friends. She even has shown signs of knowing when she needs to go outside to go to the bathroom. As long as she has a stick to chew on she's a perfect angel.

I spoke too soon.

Yesterday after work was a freakin' nightmare. She dug up two planters of pansies in the backyard. She discovered she likes to eat cat poop and seems to be interested in the cat food we keep on top of the dryer. She can almost reach it. She can chew a stick faster than I can make dinner. She peed on me, my mother, and the couch. Then she ran out of the room and came back with a mouthfull of cat poop and litter. Nice.

This morning Bryan had to clean the kennel because apparently there was a poop-fest in there overnight. I'm incredibly glad I missed that. We wouldn't let her back in for some quality time this morning. She was covered in poop and we didn't have time to deal with her.

What happened?!

Sale of a Lifetime

Have you ever come across a sale that is a once-in-a-lifetime kind of thing?

On Saturdays, if I have some free time, I like to go to estate sales. They are great places to find some really cool stuff for the house for cheap. This past Saturday I went to one that used to be a home design store that recently moved. Everything in there was marked half off the original price, but things were still a bit expensive. I bought two little items and decided to come back the next day.

Sunday everything was half off the sale price. I can't even do the math on that. What's half off half off? Anyways, at those prices, how could I be as conservative as I normally am?!

Here's my loot, with the crazy husband lurking in the background. He went with me to carry all my goodies.

I saved $260 off the original prices and only spent $85. Hell yeah!

Big Butts

"Baby Got Back" no longer amuses me as it once did.  I'm not sure if its that I'm not 15 anymore or if its the fact that the radio station we listen to every day at work has put it on their daily rotation.

I feel like its sort of a lose of innocence coupled with a heavy onset of adult grumpiness. But at the same time I don't want to be one of those adult women who still think they're hip. But at the same time I'm only 24. Growing up is so difficult!

Spring has arrived

I had a lovely post planned on how I just adore spring with the green leaves and blue sky and warm weather and cool breezes. But certain things have occurred today that just make me want to start drinking early. Its not even lunch time yet!

So here's to stupid people, annoying rules that are not convenient for anyone, and randomly generated pin numbers that are impossible to get! Drinking will commence at 5:01 pm.

One Year

It’s been one year of marriage. It doesn’t seem that monumental. We take it one day at a time… that’s all anyone can do, I suppose.

When Bryan answers people’s questions of how he can do marathons, he simply says, put one foot in front of the other. He honestly believes it’s that simple. To those of us who aren’t runners, it seems way more complicated than that. We went into this marriage believe that there was no back door out. We were in it to win it. So it doesn’t feel special that we’ve made it one whole year. Maybe when we hit fifty, we’ll celebrate then.

The other day I went to buy beer for our friends house sitting while we’re away. I picked up a six-pack for me too. Bryan commented on it later, I said that I couldn’t be trusted. He answered that was what he had learned in the first year, that I couldn’t be trusted. I’ve learned a lot this first year, more about me than about Bryan. Bryan is rock steady and he hasn’t changed since the day I met him. Me, on the other hand, I feel like I’ve changed so much, if only on the inside. Well… and those ten pounds are teensy bit noticeable on the outside too. I’ve learned (learning) patience, how I want to be loved, and new passions. From the fashion conscious girl, I’ve become the budding chef, interior decorator, circus leader, and estate sale hound.

We’ve come a long way in the first year. I moved out of my parent’s house for the first time, we got our own apartment, paid our own bills, got a cat, sold a car, acquired a turtle, bought a house, bought appliances, and got a puppy. It’s amazing what can happen in year. Who knows what will happen within our second year of marriage.
