Charlie is 2!

How did this even happen? We have a two year old? Some days it seems like it was just yesterday that we were in the hospital with him, but most it feels like it was eons ago. Either way, our Charlie Bear is 2 and we some how adore him even more.

We kicked off the celebrations on Sunday at my parent's house.

He was very into the cake.

Bryan was so sweet and make pancakes for breakfast on his actual birthday. Charlie was a bit confused as to how old he really was.

At church the sweet nursery workers made him a sign and had all the kids "sign" it. One of our favorite nursery workers even gave Charlie a present. It is so sweet to me to see how others love on this boy.

After nap time the three of us headed to the zoo.

Charlie wasn't so sure about most things and looked like this most of the time. But he warmed up some.

He even took a picture with his Daddy.

Later we had the grandparents and Bubba over for dinner.

Charlie was really into the cake and singing. He even blew out both candles.

What can I say about this boy? He's got a sweet heart and a quick temper. He makes everything a game and his love of Daniel Tiger "Kaka" knows no bounds.

At the two year mark we are now officially helmet free!!! I am so excited to be able to kiss my babies head and play with his hair anytime I want now!

Happy Birthday, Charlie! We love you!

The New House Tour: Charlie's Room

I don't think I've shared any photos of the new house yet. How can this be?!

I've been working, along with Bryan and various family members, to get the house settled. The first room to be "done" is Charlie's room. Really it's just "done for now" as in a year or so we'll have to move to a "big boy bed" and that will spark a bunch of changes. So don't be surprised if you see Charlie's room again before other rooms are done.

I kept the wall color the same. It's a brown color and while it's not my first choice, I'm fine with it and is in good enough shape that it will last the next year or so. When we make a big boys room we will likely paint.

The curtains were re-done from his custom curtains in our last home. My mom so sweetly did those for us.

The dresser was Bryan's grandfather's.

We hung a chalkboard that was in our kitchen in the last house here for Charlie to color. The white bookshelf was from my room growing up.

I did not take the time to style the toys. Sorry. I saw a small window in which I could take these photos and ran with it.

We hung the animals over the changing table this time since someone kept wanting to take them down when they were over his crib.

It's a fairly large room and I plan on putting two twin beds in here, if I can find some. Attractive twin bed sets are hard to come by. Let me know if you find some in the Memphis area.

A sweet vignette on this dresser. The ceramic dog was in my grandfather's childhood room and Charlie's grandfather bought him the leather bound books before he was born. Pacifiers are a must.

Thanks for joining on me on this tour. It rarely looks this tidy.

Life Lately - a photo dump

A couple of weeks ago we walked over to our first neighborhood event in Germantown. Charlie came out with a balloon, so I think he's a fan.

If you don't watch this one carefully he will get up to some trouble.

He learned to say okra.

Charlie is obsessed with pointing out moons in all his books. So when he saw the real moon when coming back from church one night it blew his little mind.

I cut his hair! Insert shocked and scared emoji here.

Charlie is in a major Daddy phase right now. It's sweet to watch.

Tramping

We inherited a full size trampoline with the new house! Bryan was totally opposed to it and was asking how/when to get rid of it the second day.

Turns out that we actually love it. Since the pool is still not clean enough to swim in, we've been playing on it almost every night.

Charlie loves bouncing and jumping. And we love seeing his sweet face light up and smile.

I'm not sure how long we'll keep it, but for right now it's not going anywhere.

Charlie is 1!

This weekend Charlie hit a big milestone. He turned 1!

How did this happen? How did my sweet little baby turn into a toddler? I still don't understand.

Such a big boy!

On Saturday we threw a party! Milk and donuts!

Charlie got to eat a donut. To be fair, he's had pieces of some before now, but I gave him some big chunks and he seemed to enjoy it. He did think it was odd that everyone was watching him so intently though.

There was also a decorate your own (paper) donut station.

I hung up his monthly pictures. It was so fun to see how he progressed physically.

Bryan found these old hockey sticks and gave them to Charlie. I'm not sure how I feel about this yet.

So here we are... with a one year old. We love you, Charlie. Bryan and I both have said, independently of each other, that he is truly a delight.

Life Lately

Life lately at least according to my phone....

Charlie is progressing physically. He didn't get this way on his own, but he's getting closer every day.

Morning play time.

This kid loves to stand. He's gotten so much better that I'm comfortable leaving him here for a few minutes at a time. It's nice to have a little more mobility back.

We really should take more walks through the park. We were just trying to kill time the other day.

Bath time! He really is a happy kid. Although this same evening we had one of the roughest nights sleep in a long while. We're chalking it up to teething... we think.

9 Months

This little mess turned 9 months last week. Ugh, I can't even.

He's generally a happy baby and we are so enjoying this phase.

While he's not crawling or walking or even talking yet, he's so funny to be around. To watch his smile and to watch him play. He's an active thing for not crawling or walking. When he wakes up, he doesn't make a noise, he kicks. We hear him shaking his crib with his forceful kicking. Lord help us when he can actually move around.

This week we started physical therapy. It is not a pleasant thing to hear something is wrong with your child or that he is delayed. But there are far worse things that could be true, so we're taking it in stride.

He will also be fitted for a helmet soon to correct his flat head. Let's hope he feels this excited when it comes time to wear it.

We are so thankful for our Charlie Bear. Let's hope he's still such a happy camper next month when he's wearing a helmet 23 hours a day.
