Snuggly Girls

Last week Bryan was out of town and it was just us girls at home. Both the girls, Motley cat and Roux, our dog, love to snuggle.  Motley cat is usually the instigator of snuggling with Roux.  With Bryan gone they both seemed extra snuggly. I snapped numerous pictures of them throughout the week and didn't even bother getting a photo at every instance.

On Tuesday.

Wednesday night.

Friday.

Besides all the snuggling with Motley, Roux was up to more shenanigans. I found her several times throughout the week like so...

I mean, really. It's a good thing they are both so cute.

I apologize for all the pet pictures.

Pink Cat

Last week we had some family over and the "kids" played with sidewalk chalk on our back patio. It was a good distraction for them. They even did this cute Roux outline:

However, the next morning Motley cat decided it would be a fine idea to roll in it.

Our neighbor was concerned thinking it was dried blood. Whoops.

Let this be a lesson: white cats and sidewalk chalk do not mix.

The Kids

A few weeks ago Bryan grabbed the camera to capture this moment. There are several photos he took, but this one is my favorite. It has all three kids in it together.

Tigger

Last weekend we struggled to get Tigger to eat anything. Monday Bryan took him to the vet and they decided to keep him to syringe feed him and do some tests. Unfortunately they found the cancer had spread and there wasn't much they could do for him.

We miss our handsome man a good deal.

On Wednesday Motley searched the house high and low for him. I think she's feeling it the most. They used to play together at night while we locked ourselves in our bedroom with Roux.

It was nearly 5 years ago we brought him home as our first.  He'll always be our handsome man.

Double Vision

It's pretty rare when both Tigger and Motley in close quarters and will stay friendly and still long enough for us to capture a picture.

But one night last week they allowed it.

We love these two and I'm so thankful that they get along.

A new home for Dribble

Over the last year or two Dribble has grown exponentially. I cannot tell you the number of people who have commented on it and also remarked that we needed to get a bigger aquarium. I dragged my feet for the longest time because as the primarily, ehm, only aquarium cleaner, I didn't want to have to deal with a bigger aquarium to clean.

I had to cave when I was watching him a few weeks ago and he could nearly touch the front and the back sides without trying. Whoops.

Here's the before.

Here's the old one in front of the new one.

I was a bit shocked when I saw them next to each other. I had taken the measurements and then hit the store looking for something slightly bigger that would fit on the table. This was the next size up.

Here's our sofa table after. It's much bigger, but he has soooooo much more space to swim now.

I bought two bags of smaller rocks at the pet store thinking that would help fill it out. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.... It looks like a joke. We'll need to add some more rocks and stuff to catch the poop and bits in there. But still. I think he's much happier.

Tigger Tail

We received some bad news regarding our first born, Tigger, today. A week or so ago we noticed a growth or some weird bump on his tail. Bryan insisted he go to the vet, despite me being pretty lackadaisical about it.

Last Wednesday they had an appointment. The vet shaved a small portion his tail and took a biopsy.

We received word today that the results showed lymphoma. Cancer.

I kinda always figured that cancer at some point would figure into our lives. Whether it was one of us, a parent, a close friend. Somehow our lives would not be left untouched. (Not that they weren't before. They were, just in a different manner.) Cancer was surely a mountain that we would have to climb together.

I never expected it to be in one of our pets. Perhaps I'm being a bit dramatic. It's a pet. Yeah whatever, maybe I am emotional. Maybe I am on my third glass of wine. That does not mean that I have not cried my eyes out about it already once today.

We went through the Bosco ordeal and death exactly a year ago. It doesn't seem fair to be back here again less than a year later. (Bosco died on July 21st if you want exact dates. We found out about her leg in March.)

Tigger does not have a death sentence... yet at least. Tomorrow I will take him back to the vet. They will do more tests and will likely cut his beautiful tail off.

It was the most beautiful tail there ever was. Bosco's was a close second with its cute little brown spot.

I remember the time that he caught his tail on fire that one Valentine's day. I was so afraid that it would maim it forever. He cleaned it up and it was as good as new the next day.

So here we are. Dealing with cancer in our first born. Tigger is approximately eight and a half years old. He is our handsome man. Perhaps a bit aloof most of the time, but he's a sweet cat who loved to cuddle with me when no one was looking.

Even though we got the worst case scenario news today, I'm hoping for the best tomorrow. Maybe the cancer hasn't spread yet and we won't be facing rounds of chemo with a cat. Maybe it won't be too bad and we'll have several more years with the little stinker. I sure hope so.

We live in a zoo

We watched the movie We Bought A Zoo recently and ever since Bryan likes to yell spontaneously "We live in a zoo!"

Sometimes it does feel like we live in a zoo.

Life Lately

I've been slacking on keeping up with my posts this past month. The main reason is that I have been terrible about downloading pictures from my camera. I don't promise to be better until the fall because the heat makes me super lazy around the house. So instead, look forward to random posts catching up on the madness.

Our handsome man is become more bold in coming out from under the guest bedroom bed. This morning he was wandering around the dining room towards the living room without a care in the world until he saw Roux laying on the couch and started backing away slowly. It was pretty cute to watch.

Motley is the same as always.

The annual mother's day bouquet acquired from the farmer's market.

I got a new app.

which has caused a new unhealthy obsession with said app.

I've been playing with this setting on my camera that is good for speed (supposedly). This is the best one I've gotten so far. I love the flying Roux picture. Look at the ears!

I sent this to Bryan when he was in CO.

LOOK AT THIS FACE!!!!!!

Bryan texted me this picture while at work one day. This, my friends, is the cutest picture that has ever been taken. In the whole world.

A new season kicked off last week at the Levitt Shell.

We attended one last game at the Grindhouse. The Spurs swept the Grizz in the Western Conference Finals. It was sad to see them lose, especially in the Grindhouse, but it was such an incredible season. It makes me weepy thinking about it.

We had a big Memorial Day weekend party at our house this past Sunday. I failed to take any pictures. Oh well...

More posts coming up from Nick and Meg's wedding and the last LuniTects tour.

The Girls

*Sorry for the lack of posts lately. Life has been busy. We took a vacation! I'll have a beach recap post soon.

Roux is a cuddle dog. Motley is also a cuddler. Okay, so pretty much everyone in our house loves to cuddle except Tigger and Dribble. Tigger only cuddles when everyone else is out of the house. We are kind of kindred spirits in that way.

Anyways... since the girls love to cuddle, there have been a number of girls cuddling with each pictures.  These will NEVER get old. So here are some more!

Green with black and white is my favorite outfit combo.

Boob shot.

I mean seriously. Those faces!

Crusty Snugglers

Motley has always been a bit of a snuggler, but with the addition of Roux we have had a lot of snuggles around our house. Roux and Motley like snuggling together with one of us.

Which means we have a lot of pictures like these...

Girls

Motley-poo is scared of storms. It was a bit stormy Monday night so she saught comfort in her big sister.

This was the first picture I took, the surprise on Motley's face totally cracks me up.

And the horror on Roux's face in this picture cracks me up.

I love our girls.
